U.S. Gives India Nukes, Who Cares About Non-Proliferation?

Another major story lost in the bailout headlines: the Senate voted on Oct. 1 to approve the Bush administration’s plan to begin supplying India with civilian nuclear reactors, nuclear fuel, and other related technologies. India has already exploded a nuclear weapon but has never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Another entry for the hypocrisy category: The Bush Administration handing out technology for real weapons of mass destruction without requiring India to sign on to the Non-Proliferation Treaty. How the House and Senate were convinced that this is a good idea is a mystery to me.
